Music & Opera Singers Trust Limited (MOST®)

Roland Gridiger and Gridiger Lawyers established Music & Opera Singers Trust Limited (MOST®) in 1981 – originally developed from the estate of the late Marianne Mathy Frisdane (a famous German-born Sydney-based classical singing teacher).

MOST® ( establishes, manages and promotes a range of prizes and opportunities for singers and musicians – awarding over $6 million* in scholarship prizes and opportunities since 1982. MOST continues to manage and promote some of Australasia's most highly regarded competitions and prizes, including  –

  • The Australian Cello Awards launched in July 2013; a competition which provides scholarships, awards and prizes for cellists between 18 and 30 years of age from Australia and New Zealand. Featuring the Allen-Evans Scholarship for cellists. Gridiger Lawyers has incorporated the Australian Cello Awards Pty Ltd to organise a national cello competition, to be held biannually. The ACA will create performing and competitive experiences to assist Australasian cellists achieve their career aspirations.
  • The IFAC HANDA Australian Singing Competition internationally recognised as the Australasia's premier singing competition for classical and opera singers under 26 years. Now in its third decade, the annual competition awards a range of awards, prizes and career opportunities to young singers, including the prestigious Marianne Mathy Scholarship.
  • ABC Young Performers Awards  Australia’s premier artist development programme for musicians, instrumentalists and performing artists.
  • The Opera Awards for professional opera singers.
  • The Geraldine Pascall Foundation (Pascall Prize) developed from the Estate of the late Geraldine Pascall, a prominent Australian journalist. The Pascall Prize is Australia's only national prize of its kind, awarded to the ‘critic of the year’ for reviews and criticism of the Arts. Since 1989 the Geraldine Pascall Foundation has awarded $360,000* to Pascall Prize winners.
  • Rona Tranby Trust (Rona Tranby Award and Collection): Roland is a Trustee of the Rona Tranby Trust that emerged from the Estate of the late Tom Rona. He established the Rona Tranby Foundation that works to record oral history of members of the Indigenous community.
